Joined Jul 14, Messages Hi there, I completely uninstalled my previous version of Google Earth, because I liked the sound of the latest version - 6 - as it had better integrated Street View. However, when I tried to install it, I got the following error message: "Google Update installation failed with error Ox" I tried a System Restore to get back to the old version, but afterwards, the program wouldn't load properly. It just kept appearing and then disappearing again when I clicked on its icon.
Anyway, I wonder if anyone else has had the same problem and if so, how can the installation of this latest version be done without the error mesage keep popping up? NB: If I installed just the Google Earth Plug-in assuming this will install without the error message that is is Street View available in that does anyone know? I've done a search to try and find the answer to this, but the results are a bit mixed. Thanks in advance. Trusted Advisor.

Here is the "Fix my problem" site that you can browse through. Thanks for your input Flavallee. Well, of course, unfortunately that's academic now. I did uninstall it - a lot of people say it's better to completely uninstall a program before installing the latest version - however, I had a look at the article you mentioned and downloaded the program from the direct link.
I haven't actually tried to install it yet though This version apparently does not include the automatic update facility, so it has to be updated manually perhaps no bad thing really, if as you say, these can be installed over the top of the old versions. I didn't want to use the Windows Clean-up tool, as I wouldn't be absolutely sure of what I was doing.
I install the full Google Earth program and nothing else. I'm not familiar with any plug-ins or a Street View feature. The newer version will overwrite and replace the older version. If the older version needs to be uninstalled first, the install process of the newer version will advise you of that. Just something for you to keep in mind. Joined Mar 25, Messages 2, Thanks Both. Flavallee - this seems a very large download. Does it include Google Chrome, plus a load of other extras and add-ons that I don't want?
If so, then does it let you choose not to install these at installation? I get a bit sick of all this bloatware that seems to come with most programs these days.
