Battles can last for short or longer periods of time, but all of them have the same breakneck sense of tension and speed. Each battle feels like a dire struggle between an enemy that is just as if not stronger than yourself. Combine this with some heavy moves to be performed both by the player and against them, and some stylishly unique and joyful to behold combos, and you get the combat system of Nexus!
The combat is fun to watch and satisfying to pull off, but it does have some issues, primarily in its simplicity. The combat is very basic in design, despite the use of some cool looking special abilities and combos, nothing about the combat system is all that interesting or unique.
Ultraman Nexus does a rather good job of replicating the look of Tokusatsu characters. The look of the game is a pretty stellar representation of its source material. The biggest issue is not in the graphical style, but in its capability. Graphics and visuals: The visuals are ok, they represent the characters from Ultraman nicely, and the poses and animations look great. The designs from the characters are accurate to their live-action counterparts.
Gameplay: In fighting games, the gameplay is pretty much the single most important element. The sound effects during the fight are great and add some more life into an otherwise blocky fight. Ultraman is one of the mightiest characters, a hero that fights numerous Kaiju creatures and saves Japan over and over again.
Sadly this game doesn't really reflect the amazingness of the character and lacks most of the luster of the original series. Sure, there are plenty of references in the game for the series, but that isn't really enough to save it.
Ultraman Fighting Evolution Rebirth is the fourth game in this series that was released on the PlayStation 2 in the mids. Since then I have always checked out his games including this one, we are taking a look at today. There is a story being told here and from what I understand the game is all in Japanese the story follows the Ultraman lore pretty well. What you basically need to know is that there are a bunch of monsters and bad guys causing trouble and Ultraman or one of the Ultras needs to put these guys in their place.
There is a lot of text in the game, but it is not exactly hard to follow what is going on. I really like the presentation of Ultraman Fighting Evolution Rebirth. The game has a rather close view of the fighting action and some might not like this, but I think this works very well with the characters we have on offer here.
